LEMIN & KEVIN
I had been dying to do an art gallery wedding for ages so I was more than a little bit excited to hear from Lemin about her wedding to Kevin at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
It was only fitting that the arrangements drew inspiration from the art world, so we based the flowers on the beautiful floral still life paintings from the Dutch Golden Age.
Following the opulent, sprawling arrangements in the art of de Heem and Ruysch, we used a mix of strongly coloured flowers, such as tulips (of course), delphiniums, dahlias, roses, carnations and snapdragons – even the butterflies loved the bride's bouquet.
On the guest tables we recreated still life scenes with footed vase arrangements placed on draped and gathered velvet and surrounded by popular props of the era: heirloom fruits, shells, candlesticks and hourglasses.
